Pic of the Day: Valley in the Alps

This is the town of Lauterbrunnen, in the Lauterbunnen Valley, high up in the Swiss Alps. All around Lauterbrunnen, mountains rise up from the valley and waterfalls tumble off jagged rocks and turn into mist before hitting the ground.

Love this photo and enjoying your site. The town nestled at the base of such towering, powerful mountains makes you feel as though life there would be easygoing and reassuring. Yet I’m sure some townspeople would lie awake at night dreaming of what was on the other side of those steep cliffs and jagged rocks, planning their own adventures!

Thanks for your comments, Linda! Lauterbrunnen was truly a magical place, and a great home base for Alpine adventures. I certainly spent a long time just staring up in awe.
